Biography: Shehreen Ladha

I was born in Kenya. Moved to Toronto in 2003 and have loved it ever since. Here is defining me: 1. Lifelong learning I have not stopped learning since I graduated from high school in the 90s. Two years later, I became an entrepreneur and garnered business skills. For seven years, I ran an art school. After moving to Canada, I enrolled in a degree program and later, a post-graduate diploma. 2. Embrace new technology Seven years ago when I arrived in Canada, I didn’t even know how to turn on a computer. Now, I surf, Tweet, Facebook, Blog and use MS Office and sophisticated design software comfortably. 3. Respect and embrace diversity Learning how to respect other cultures comes easily to me. Having lived and worked in several countries, I have learned to relate to people on a human to human level. This skill is applicable in B2B communications. 4. Live with integrity I give and take constructive criticism well. Honesty in life and in work is the best policy. 5. Motivated self-starter With a positive and optimistic attitude, I contribute to a healthy and productive work environment. Employers like to be around productive, energetic and optimistic individuals. When I am not feeling the best, I know myself well enough to know how to re-fire my enthusiasm. 6. Creative thinker I can be very serious, even sullen. But that means that my creative juices are flowing. I will think outside the box. I find solutions other people overlook. Some of the time, my ideas are pretty unconventional. With a little team-work and tweaking, I have seen my ideas in action. That is what makes me unique. 7. Self-imposed discipline For employers, a hard-working individual who meets deadlines is invaluable. If I set goals, I make sure I achieve them.
