Biography: Hafsa Khan

Hafsa Khan was born September 1985 in Hong Kong where she lived with her family in Kowloon. By the age of 6 She had fallen in love with music. She was always the highlight at family gatherings where she sang and danced for her family and friends. Her first instrument, the violin, was given to her by her grandfather as a present. She soon learned to play the piano, bass guitar, drums, guitar and flute all the while honing her vocal and composing skills. When Hafsa hit 14 she knew that music was what she wanted to do. Even more than that she knew that one day she wanted to be a star. Her enthusiasm towards her craft lead to her being invited, by her school principal, to perform in front of her entire school on several occasions. Her passion for music drove her to create and learn more. Over the years Hafsa has been the recipient of many vocal awards including winning the title of Best vocalist at the FM 903 competition on Hong Kong Radio when she was18 yrs old. From instruments Hafsa started to experiment with recording and producing electronic music. Cakewalk, Fruity Loops, Reason, and Sound Forge were her favorite toys to play with. She was always drawn to the unique sounds and styles of Electronic, Pop, Hip Hop, and Rock music. The development of her unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in Hong Kong and coming from a mixed background of Pakistani/ Portuguese, Hafsa was always surrounded by different forms of music. She was always fascinated by the music of various cultures. From Dance such as ‘Two Unlimited’ to Pop Rock like ‘Billy Idol’ and “The Police”, she formed her own unique style. Her music fused with her passion for fashion have evolved into her own distinct style. Her self taught knowledge of producing and creating music increased her confidence. It was time to take it on stage! At the age of 20 Hafsa was ready to take over the world and she landed an opportunity to perform in Shanghai, China. Hafsa quickly became one of the most recognizable figures in China’s electro-house scene, an impressive feat accomplished by teaming up with DJ Tim Crouch to form the group T.H.E. (Tim and Hafsa Experience). Since that time, Hafsa’s Lady Gaga/ Gwen Stafani style has allowed her to rock the Chongqing Music Festival, with 30,000 people, where they shared the stage with big name acts such as DJ Christopher Lawrence (number 1 trance DJ in the U.S.), DJ Donald Glaude (DJMag top 100), and performed alongside former Playboy Bunny, celebrity DJ Diamond. In 2008 she opened for DJ Sasha (world number 7 trance DJ), and in 2009 opened for hip hop legend Fatman Scoop. In her short time in China, T.H.E has toured extensively, hitting every 1st and 2nd tier city and headlining in top China clubs including Mix, Tang and Cargo, Susie Wong’s in Beijing; JJ2 in Shanghai, SOS in Hangzhou and many others. Hafsa brought the house down on a weekly basis with their residence at Shanghai’s number 1 rated club, M2, and has set a high bar for all performers in China. Hafsa has recently relocated to Los Angeles where she is ready to show the rest of the world exactly what an entertaining powerhouse she is. She is currently writing and producing her music while networking to find the best partnerships to forward her music career.
