Biography: Michael Corbett

I have a vision of Tijuana, Mexico becoming the most important city of art in the Pacific Rim. Some may feel that it is too violent environment for this to come to pass. But Florence, Italy was a very violent city and it spawned the Renaissance. So violence in and of itself does not make a city unworthy of greatness. Earlier this year, I started a project that used bumperstickers that say: Tijuana es SAGRADA porque Tijuana es LIBRE (Tijuana is sacred because Tijuana is free) as a point of focus for the people of Tijuana. It is my intent, by introducing this saying into the Tijuana culture, to inspired a quantum shift, thereby changing that which the American press characterizes as a hopeless situation...
