• Kay Hankinson  Dear Eva and Jeanie.. First of all he supported himself through about 5 years of training with a Rin Dear Eva and Jeanie.. First of all he supported himself through about 5 years of training with a Rinpoche in India but his funds have now run out. I believe that he still would like to stay at the monastery but needs to pay a small amount for his keep. He has limited internet access and I have asked him to give me more details but up to this point I have not heard anymore. As soon as I know more I will post here. Thank you both for your support and interest.. I have started corresponding with someone from the same lineage and he may be able to start a collection for the monk... he is looking into it for me and at this point there is nothing definite. love Kay  See more

Before, it was the society, which by recognizing the real value of those having dedicated themselves to serving to the spiritual needs of the society, would support them in the monasteries. Now, it is the monks who recognize their value to the society in the sense of its spiritual needs, and are obliged to look for money for their stay in the monastery. Amazing, isn't it?
