Make no mistake.  This is a serious chocolate craftsman at work.  Part boundary-pushing artist, part mad scientist, Shepherd is committed to the heart.  Wearing his signature handmade tie-dyed chef jacket, Jeff Shepherd is intensely focused on stirring a pot of bubbling caramel which he will magically transform into award-winning cayenne caramels encased in his signature organic dark chocolate.   Moments later, he’ll crank up the volume of a favorite Grateful Dead tune and break into a happy dance as he rolls another crowd-pleasing, award-winner, his smokey blue cheese truffle in chopped toasted almonds, as customers press against the glass dividing Lilliebelle Farms’ retail store and factory kitchen. Shepherd named Lillebelle Farms Handmade Chocolates for his daughter, Lillie, and his wife, Belle, the two most influential and inspiring women in his life.  Spending upwards of 10 hours a day in his factory kitchens and retail store, and  even more on summer weekends gathering the precious organic fruit from his harvest, this unique chocolate artisan, who began his career selling 4 flavors of hand-dipped truffles out of his Jeep trunk at Oregon Farmers’ Markets, now creates more than 60 exclusive flavors of chocolates and truffles, caramels, bars and toffee. Winner of the 2008 Grand Prize Scovie Award for fiery cayenne caramels, recipient of “Best Ganache” at the first “Emerging Chocolatier Competition”, voted  “Best Caramels in the West”by Sunset Magazine, with an esteemed spot as Martha Stewart’s “Must Have Christmas Gift”, Jeff’s dedication to uncompromising quality from farm to shelf is obvious.
