• Gayle Rose  Kara, I hope you don't despair too much. One thing to be grateful for is that children today have e Kara, I hope you don't despair too much. One thing to be grateful for is that children today have even more vaccinations that are required than when you were a child or when I was. (Not that that's good for them.) I worked in an elementary school for a year and was in charge of making sure that all of the children were up to date on their required vaccinations. I realized that there are so many more vaccines required now than when I was little and our government is probably thinking to add more. Back when I was little, children just got the measles, mumps and chicken pox, etc. now you have to get a shot for all of them. There's even some thought that these vaccinations are the cause of autism in our society. A toxic preservative was being used in the vaccines and this is what some believe may be causing the higher incidence of autism in children. I wouldn't doubt it.
