Dean Koontz wrote a memoir about his dog, Trixie, after she died, including fun and hilarious doggie stories and his usual profound insights on the human condition as inspired, in this case, by his doggie companion. here's a funny footnote: Trixie was a golden retriever. the very day after i finished reading the book, i went to the library at the end of my block to return some materials, and who did i meet at the doorway, leashed to the fence, waiting for their human, but a beautiful golden retriever. we said hello and i scratched doggie's ears and Trixie gave me a happy grin like only a doG can give.
