• Starshine Junnie  One East Indian Culinary Store in a small San Bernardino mini mall where I once got my ginger bee One East Indian Culinary Store in a small San Bernardino mini mall where I once got my ginger beer was closed when yesterday I passed there The walls were bare and hand written signs were on the window pleading to sell the last of their stock for 50% off only the shelves remained and the lock on the door The impact felt was universal as the mournful melody of sorrow drifted through the afternoon air Reflecting on the sweet couple who spoke to me in a little English while their children scurried about helpful with their assigned tasks, I traveled the slow-stepping path back to the car Memories captured aromas of cardamon and cumin Filling empty air with absence of their world in mine To find them again can never be For 'tis like finding the moment past They stand aside others in many other shoes wearing the same cloak of Economic Transition And Hope, she stands aside us here As we share this time of flight ~ together Each of us finding our place to take notice and when it be in our power, to take affirmative action And the hand-written sign in the window Is the Sign of the Times Starshine  See more
