The Truth About Back Pain Revealed: There Is No Mind-Body Connection

This is the fourth post in John Amaral's ongoing series about the relationship between back pain and the quantum story, and how you can use these new ideas to remedy your chronic backache. If you haven't yet, read his first, second and third post in the series.

More on how to apply quantum principles to end back pain…

The last post laid a foundation for better understanding the vibrational nature of the human body. There will be plenty of “how to” back-pain-relief tips coming in the near future (They’re not your traditional approaches and they might change more than your back pain) but for now, let’s continue the story…

The human body consists of somewhere between 75-100 trillion cells. All of these cells are networked with nerve fibers. It is estimated that each cell has somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 to 9 nerve connections.

Since every cell is touched by nerves, in essence there really is no “mind-body connection”. That’s because your mind and body were never separate in the first place!

If I asked you to point to your brain, where would you point? Most likely your head, right? That’s where anatomy books say your brain is, but your brain doesn’t literally stop inside your skull. That’s just nomenclature.

It is really one continuous system that snakes out through a hole in the base of your cranium called the foramen magnum and travels down through your entire spine to your tailbone (once outside your cranium it is called the spinal cord).

Between each vertebra, your spinal cord branches out in the form of spinal nerves and each of those nerves continue to branch until an integrated matrix of nerve fibers networks into every single cell.

Inside your spine, your central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) is covered by two layers of elastic tissue called the meninges. The dura mater is the outermost layer which attaches your brain and spinal cord to your skull and the first five to seven bones in your neck at one end. At the other end it attaches your spinal cord to your tailbone.

Why is this important to know? What does this have to do with the vibrational nature of the human body, consciousness and back pain?

I’ll give you a hint: Your spinal cord and meninges can stretch or elongate inside your spine (sometimes up to several inches) when you’re stressed or injured. Have you ever over-tightened the strings on a stringed instrument? What happened to the string’s vibration? What happened to the sound that the strings created?

Think about it…

Warmly,

Dr. John

John, this is absolute delight. Again I have bookmarked this article and will be reading it again and again. It is a pure article.

I think in the same way we have pumping stations all over our body and it is not just our heart which pumps.

Give me more.
Rajesh

There is more to the mind-body connection than is evident here.
maybe you are going to get to that later?:)

John...

This is great! I can't wait to tell my students of this. I keep trying to find scientific proof, that is understandable, to relate to them on how the power of yoga actucally works. Thank you and keep them coming.

There certainly is more going on to the mind-body connection than is evident here Mike...and what a great forum to discuss it!

My goal with this series is to explore and explain how one's biology, anatomy and physiology both effect and are effected by environment, thoughts, emotions etc. and how, THROUGH the physical/somatic body one can embody and sustain more depth and expansion of consciousness...while reducing pain and becoming more flexible, adaptable, connected and compassionate in the process.

Between the work of Ken Wilber, Donald Epstein, Joseph Chilton Pierce, Donald Bakal, Bruce Lipton, Beverly Rubik, Candace Pert, and dozens of other philosphers and scientists, we've got a pretty compelling story about mind-body and consciousness going!

I welcome all of your comments and questions!

Warmly,

John
