Thank you for this, Deepak - it's so timely for me. I've been encouraging my son, who is 21, to begin meditating - in fact, I've been encouraging him for years, though he's either been resistant for some reason, or just not ready to begin. Maybe he thinks it's going to be too hard. Anyway, your thoughts on this remind me that offering the encouragement and the example is enough - and letting go of the attachment to the outcome is the best. Blessings! Jann

Best meditation for children is to let them play freely in Mountains or Garden or Forest or on Beach. I personally feel a child is always in the State of Meditation. Meditation is the most natural state. A person is in meditation if that person feels as if s/he is six month old. Enjoy!!!! Love Rajesh http://rajeshmsharma.blogspot.com

I find that being with children is a meditation for me. They are so often my teacher. I come to them as a student, and try to follow the spontaneous gift of curiostiy and wonder that they bring to the moment. love baba

Well I guess, as soon as they start speaking they should be made familiar with meditation. Bali links

Perhaps a good approach with young children is to encourage them to play games that engage their senses and call for attention, concentration and awareness: colour matching by mixing paints, singing or playing an instrument attentively, learning what different materials feel like etc. By pursuing fun activities that call for awareness where no stress or expectation is in the mix, kids have a great time and, in the process, get used to focus and unfettered attention. Whether they take to sit-down meditation or not, the roots are there.

When your child is ready to meditate you will know it. But, the best way to encourage this is to do it yourself with them. Make it a "Special" thing and kind of a bonding experience for you and the child. Then they will believe in it because it will be an inspiration more than force.

Thank you for touching upon this as my boys are 7 & 9, and I've been wondering this as well especially since I have seen Mallika's video blog with her daughters stating they were off to meditate, and they seemed so young. I thought maybe I'd missed something by not teaching my boys yet, and I didn't want to do them a disservice by not showing them early enough, and getting the roots of meditation started. I agree with Babu that my boys are always teaching me. I quickly learned that I am getting waaaaaaaaayyyyyy more of an education out of my kids than they are getting from me. I just don't let on is all...lol. J/K, actually I tell them how much they teach me daily :) Also Rajesh, I agree that kids are always in a state of meditation during play as they are always in the now, which is beautiful. If only we could keep them in this natural state of beauty and wonder. Namaste, Krissy

Teaching your children to meditate is like teaching your children your own religion, less is more. I have three children ages 15, 17 and 23. I give them all my unconditional love. Each one of them knows that I send them Divine love and light every day when I meditate and or do sex magic. Each of them knows they receive 100% of my love at all times. This is only possible because love is not like any other "thing" in fact it is not a thing at all. The more love you give the more love there is to give. The Schechinah is infinite love, the only limit to how much love can pass through you is how much you allow to pass through you. The love that passes through you does carry your own distinctive picture. That is why sometimes people recognize you when they meet you they have been feeling the love that passes through your heart for a long time. When my children are ready their teacher will appear. I do not have to be their teacher, just their father. The schechinah will be their teacher as she has been mine. Why should they be ready before I was ready? love and light, Stuart http://stuartmarkberlin.com

My daughter is 2 almost 3 (november). I sit and put on music and at first she just watched me. Now she sits next to me and copys what i do. Its soo cute, even though she doesnt know what she's doing i'm excited that she is, so far following in this path. She is such a calm 2yr old and has such compassion for her age. I call her my little hippy lol. As she gets older i hope to teach her more, as well as my maddie (9wks old) and my 8yr old son.

Residential treatment facilities, or RTFs, are less common than outpatient counseling programs. You are less likely to find one close to where you live, and they may be considerably more expensive. In spite of the cost and distance, the benefits one can gain from their facilities are exceptional.

Most people are curious about a child’s ability to meditate. Many adults can’t seem to find the time nor have the patience..Meditation has proven effective with helping children become more attentive, which begins with a child’s ability to focus on himself. Meditation is a time for children to explore their inner world...
