OUR TEAM
Our team is comprised of seasoned media veterans and friends, who have joined together to create Intent. Our team includes:
Founder & CEO, Mallika Chopra "My Intent is to connect with others by sharing and listening to each other's stories."
Mallika is a media entrepreneur and published author who created Intentblog and MyPotential (a venture backed startup back in 1999). She serves as President for Chopra Media and is a member of the Board of Directors of Virgin Comics and Animation. Her prior experience includes launching MTV in India, Michael Jackson's Heal The World Foundation, and Go Networks. Mallika holds a B.A. from Brown and an M.B.A. from Kellogg University.
Co-Founder & VP of Product, Sal Taylor Kydd "My Intent is to practice what I preach."
Sal worked most recently as a Senior Director at Yahoo! heading up Yahoo! TV, before leaving to join Mallika to start Intent. Over her seven years at Yahoo, Sal led product development for initiatives across Yahoo! Entertainment including Y! Movies and branded content sites such as ET Online and The Apprentice. Sal brings extensive international experience to the team, also having worked online in Australia and the UK. Sal has a BA Manchester University, England and post-graduate studies in Broadcast Journalism.
Romi Lassally (Editor at Large) "My intent is to de-tox my life, just a little bit everyday."
Romi Lassally oversees a network of confessional communities for women including truemomconfessions.com and was formerly the founding editor for the Lifestyles section of The Huffington Post. Prior to her life in New Media, Romi worked as an executive and producer in the entertainment industry. Romi is married to a great guy named Tom and is the proud mother of three pretty cool kids.
Eric Del Balso (Business Development/Sales) "My intent is to live a balanced life and give more than I get."
Eric is a seasoned business development executive with over 12 years experience in the media, entertainment and technology industry. Served as Senior Director in the Corporate Partnerships Group at Yahoo! Inc. Prior to joining Yahoo!, Eric spent 5 years at Microsoft as the technology sales leader for MSN. He has also worked in sales capacities at Excite@Home and AT&T Media Services.
Rich LeFurgy (Advertising Strategy) "My intent is to help others connect to the god within themselves."
Rich has served as board member, advisor or investor in over 30 online advertising companies. Drawing from a 17 year ad agency career in New York (NW Ayer 1978-1995), former head of sales at Starwave and the Walt Disney Internet Group, founding Chairman of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (1996-2001) and a venture capitalist in San Francisco (WaldenVC 1999-2004), prior to starting advisory firm Archer in 2004. Received IAB's Lifetime Achievement Award (2004), inducted into Advertising Age's Interactive Hall of Fame (2000) recognized by USAToday as "the Johnny Appleseed of Online Advertising" (1998).
Olivia Kuhn-Lloyd (Partnership Cultivator) "My intent is to always feel the opportunities that the world holds."
Olivia managed international trade advocacy with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washing, D.C., working with both foreign ambassadors and national business owners to tell their stories. She spent a year in the Marshall Islands as a volunteer teacher and journalist before moving to Los Angeles to work with nonprofits and grantmakers. Olivia believes resolutely in the reach of business to affect real social change. She holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
Thomas Bartels (Site Engineer) "My intent is to face the world with an open mind."
Tom is a self-proclaimed geek with a penchant for bikes and community volunteering. He the Site Engineer for Intent and spends most of his days coding masterful PHP and fuddling with Drupal. He studied Architectural Design at the University of Florida while building a healthy hobby of computer programming and system administration while building custom CRM applications for Atlantic.net. He eventually moved on to help some friends build Santa Monica based Oxelis eCRM using Javascript and Java applications. Just before Intent he worked with The Cherry Hill Co. developing websites and communication frameworks for libraries and librarians.
Dave Trager (Community Manager) "My intent is to spread joy and well-being."
Dave is a community manager with a passion for people and helping others to live to their fullest potential. He comes to us from Zaadz (now known as Gaia) where he served as a community manager as well as various roles in business development and support. He has also served as a business development consultant for LearnOutLoud.com. Prior to this, Dave dedicated many years to his passion of helping others reach their full potential as a coach for youth with behavioral problems. Dave is a lifelong experiential learner, supplemented with his studies in Contemplative Psychology at Naropa University and Communication Studies at Rowan University.
Emma Brownell (Senior Editor) "
My intent is to remain balanced while still getting it all done."
Emma Brownell is a seasoned interactive professional with extensive online writing, editing and managing experience. Prior to her position as senior editor at Intent.com, Emma was the managing editor at iMedia Connection, the premier publication for digital marketing and media professionals. She began her career as a financial analyst at the investment bank Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin.
Emma is the vice chair of the Human Rights Watch Los Angeles Network. She graduated magna cum laude with a double major in Art History and Economics from Brown University.
Prachi Patel (Site Producer) "My intent is to live life to the fullest, one day at a time”
Prachi works as the site producer for Intent.com. Prior to joining Intent in April 2008, she has worked as a production assistant for a Disney channel feature film and other media related positions. She also worked extensively in non-profit during college, with organizations such as the ONE Campaign, CARE and Oxfam. She founded Boston University’s chapter of ONE, spent an entire summer touring the country with Pearl Jam spreading the awareness about ONE and led a Massachusetts delegation in CARE’s 2007 National Conference.
Prachi graduated from Boston University’s College of Communications in 2007 and aspires to write and direct films one day.
